Marketing Week Rolls Around Again
24 Aug
Fans Build Brands – a catchy tagline for an event that goes from strength to strength each year, and the 2010 incarnation is no exception. As the theme suggests, this year’s event offers a broader focus on digital and social media than in the past – possibly following some of the criticism from pundits on the twitter stream in 2009.
Via Media is sponsoring the event again and has collaborated with the gang at Clemenger on the development of the website.
Last night Russell Howcroft of Y&R Brands and Gruen fame regaled the crowd on branding lessons he’d learned from his time on the board of the Melbourne Football Club. I loved the fact he used the word ‘grouse’ twice, but also took a lot out of his take on Jim Styne’s leadership and the impact of that leadership on the club’s brand and overall financial performance.
This morning’s breakfast session from Patrick Collister – former exec CD of Ogilvy UK, and now editor of Directory magazine was fantastic and I’ll looking forward to tomorrow’s preso from Glue Society founder Jonathon Kneebone. Kelly Noble from Glam and I are also speaking – our session covers some of the common principles of marketing on a budget if you’d like to come along.
Get a look at the rest of the program at www.marketingweek.com.au, and follow the twitter commentary at #marketingweek – oh, and if you’re at the event, drop by our stand. We’ll make you famous.
